The easiest way to find frames in the right size is to compare the measurements of your current glasses with the measurements shown on the product page of the frames. All measurements are given in millimetres (mm).
1. First, look at the inside of the temple
On most frames, the three most important measurements are printed on the inside of the temple (the arm of the glasses), for example like this: 52 □ 18 – 145
- 52 = Lens width
- 18 = Bridge, that is, the bridge width
- 145 = Temple length
If you find these numbers, you don't need to measure them yourself.
2. Measure the total frame width
The total width is usually not marked on the temple, so measure it yourself. Measure the front of the frame with a ruler, straight from outer edge to outer edge. On the example frames, the total width is 140 mm.

If the measurements aren't on the temple, here's how to measure them
Bridge
Measure the distance between the inner edges of the lenses at the nose. Measure from lens to lens, not from the edge of the frame. On the example frames, the bridge is 18 mm.
Lens width
Measure the width of the lens at its widest point, horizontally. Don't include the frame, only the lens itself. On the example frames, the lens width is 52 mm.
Temple length
Measure the temple from the hinge to the tip, including the curved end. The temple length is made up of the straight part and the end that curves behind your ear. The front of the frame is not part of the temple length. On the example frames, the temple length is 145 mm in total.
Tip: The curved end is easiest to measure with a tape measure, or by laying a piece of string along the temple and then measuring the string with a ruler.
