LENSES
We make the lenses to your prescription – both single-vision and modern progressive lenses. A thin and light 1.61 lens comes as standard; you can also choose an even thinner 1.67 lens. All lenses have an anti-reflective and scratch-resistant coating. The lenses are made digitally and centred precisely to your PD.

Will these frames fit me?

Virtual try-on helps you judge how a model suits your face, but it doesn't always show the size of the frames correctly. That's why it's very important that you also check the frame measurements and compare the width in particular with your current frames. Frame width is measured across the outside of the frames.

  • The frames are made of acetate, which can be warmed and carefully shaped. You can adjust the temples (the arms of the glasses) yourself by bending them gently by hand, or ask an optician for help – a small bend helps you fine-tune the fit. We take responsibility for all adjustments, so if something happens to your glasses, you get a new pair. Small individual differences, such as the position of your ears, can affect how the frames sit on your face. Here are step-by-step instructions for adjusting them at home.

  • Banaanis are made partly from biodegradable materials. Traditional plastic has been replaced with a more responsible alternative that reduces the use of fossil raw materials and lowers the carbon footprint of production – without compromising on quality, durability or design.

How can we offer optician-quality glasses at a low price?

When you buy glasses from an optician's shop, you pay for much more than frames and lenses. The shop, the staff, the marketing campaigns, the rent – in the end, the customer pays for all of it. We decided to do things differently.

Banaani works with no middlemen. You order your glasses online, and the process is simple: your order goes to the lens manufacturer, where the lenses are cut to your prescription and fitted into the frames you chose. Then the finished glasses are sent to you from our warehouse in Finland.

The result: you get optician-quality glasses, without the optician's price tag.

(This model has been used for a long time in the bigger European countries and in the USA, but Banaani is probably the first of its kind in Finland.)

  • Choose the frames you like and click "Choose lenses and order" on the product page. Follow the steps to choose your lenses, and finally enter your prescription details. Your frames and lenses are now in your cart, and you can go to checkout to pay for your order.

  • On each frame's page you'll find the exact measurements and a virtual try-on, which uses your camera to show you how the glasses look on your face. If the frames don't feel right in the end, you can always return your glasses within 30 days.

  • Yes. For single-vision glasses, €99 includes two frames and single-vision lenses with their coatings. For progressive lenses, the extra charge is +€50 per pair, so 1 pair costs €149 and 2 pairs cost €199.

  • Yes. We need a valid glasses prescription with your order. You enter the prescription in the online store when you place your order. If you don't have a prescription, you can book an eye test with an optician or ask for a copy of your earlier prescription.
