Ten years in the optical industry taught us one thing: glasses are not expensive to make, but they still cost several hundred euros.
Where does the high price come from? It comes from the long journey glasses make before they reach the customer. There are several middlemen along the way: brands, importers and opticians, and each one takes its own share. As a result, the consumer pays more for everything else than for the product itself.
Banaani does things differently. We sell glasses directly to the consumer with no middlemen – straight from the lens laboratory to the customer. When we remove the costs of brands, physical shops and extra marketing, the same quality can be offered at a fraction of the price.
